Keys to movement in padel

We want to explain the best movements in padel in the most effective and practical way. We want our clients to give their best in their padel matches, so we are going to explain the most common movements, such as lateral movement, long starting steps, short steps, or quick backward running.

The start of any movement should begin by flexing the legs and not the waist, with a straight torso and flexed legs. The waiting position should be with semi-flexed legs, shoulder-width apart, torso slightly leaning forward, and flexed arms. This position will allow for greater reaction speed.

We must consider our common sense of anticipation; reading the ball is fundamental. We should anticipate the ball's trajectory. Anticipation will be a key weapon to get into a good position to hit our shot.

1-MOVEMENT FOR WALL BALL RECOVERY

If the movement is short, the legs must be ready to perform a cross step that is not too wide, but very fast and with a lot of thrust.

Once the ball is close, you should take small steps.

-We should always move backward laterally to avoid tripping.

-When moving backward, we should take short steps and keep our center of gravity low.

-And finally, if we make lateral movements, we should always have the racket ready to hit the ball.

2-VOLLEY AND BANDEJA MOVEMENT

-We must maintain a good ready position to always start with a good frontal movement.

-In lateral movement, we should never hold the racket with both hands; this will hinder your movement.

-When hitting, we should never hit head-on; we should always try to stop in time by adopting a good position.

After impact, we should follow through with our body in the direction of the shot, which will allow us to quickly move to the net.

3-MOVEMENT WITHOUT THE BALL

It is very common to see that when moving, one partner moves a lot and the other doesn't. When my partner is in the corner, we should make a lateral movement to cover more of the middle. And if they pass it with a lob and the net is lost, we should run backward, but without losing sight of the net.

-Do not move backward facing forward; this will prevent falls and allow you to reach the ball in better condition to hit it.

4-LATERAL MOVEMENT

Always keep your knees semi-flexed, never stay upright. When moving sideways, we should avoid crossing our legs. Once the movement towards the ball begins, prepare the stroke in advance to be ready.

-Do not jump and always move close to the ground.

As a final tip, to improve your movements and make them 100% effective, if you want greater effectiveness in your shots, we give you 3 guidelines to follow.

-Move with flexed legs and very short steps, brake before reaching the ball and prepare your racket during the movement. We must always have good movement technique.
