Marrero-Salazar: WPT's number 1 team

The Women's World Padel Tour is undergoing a change. Marta Marrero and Alejandra Salazar are the new number one. After the Seville Open, the Canary Islander and the Madrid native dethroned the Sánchez Alayeto twins from their privileged position.

Marrero-Salazar were crowned champions of the Seville Open, defeating Sainz-Triay in the final (6-3 and 7-5). They had just won in Monte Carlo and repeated the title in the Andalusian capital. In this way, the player from Black Crown and the player from Head Padel ratified their great form against the season's breakout team.

But, in addition, this triumph brings a double prize. The ascent to the first place in the WPT ranking. Mapi and Majo Sánchez Alayeto's defeat in the semifinals against Sainz-Triay allowed Marrero-Salazar to become the number one team. The goal now for both is to maintain this position, adding more titles in an already outstanding season.

Apart from the titles in Seville and Monte Carlo, Marrero-Salazar also won the Valencia Master and the Las Rozas Open.

Marta Marrero once again had a great tournament wielding her padel racket Black Crown Dark. While Alejandra Salazar did so with her inseparable Head Graphene XT Delta Motion. Undoubtedly, two of the best women's padel rackets of 2016.

There were no surprises in the men's circuit. Fernando Belasteguín and Pablo Lima once again repeated their triumph before an enthusiastic crowd. It didn't matter that Paquito Navarro was playing at 'home'. The number 1s gave no chance to the Sevillian and his partner Sanyo Gutiérrez and won by a clear 6-4 and 6-2.

The Head Graphene XT Delta Pro racket and the ASICS S1 once again 'reigned' in the hands of the best team currently.
