Capra joins Team Siux

Nobody expected it. Overnight, Siux surprised everyone with the signing of one of the most promising players in our favorite sport: Luciano Capra, currently number 40 in the WPT ranking.

During this time of year, with more than five months already passed, there are hardly any movements between players and brands, and even less so among men in the top positions of the WPT ranking. However, Siux has once again made it clear that it is one of the brands that is most committed to the professional circuit.

First, they surprised at the beginning of 2016 with the signing of Cristian Gutiérrez and now with the arrival of 'Lucho' Capra, a player who, let's remember, is only 22 years old.

The Argentine player, who has committed for the next three seasons, will wield the Siux Tsunami 2.0 padel racket and will also be equipped with the brand's clothing for his 2016 World Padel Tour matches.

"I believe it's a racket that adapts very well to what my game needs. It's round, with a wide sweet spot and it stands out for its control. The weight balance is also very good," he said about the Siux Tsunami 2.0, a racket belonging to the Siux 2016 racket collection.

From tennis to padel

Born in Quilmes on September 16, 1993, Capra began his journey in the world of tennis and then started combining it with padel. It was in 2007, with the call to the Argentine National Team, when he decided to dedicate himself exclusively to the four-walled sport.

In a short time, the first titles arrived. For several consecutive years between 2007 and 2011, he finished as the number 1 pair in Argentina in junior categories, achieving several successes such as the Pan American Team Championship and the runner-up position in the Junior World Championship.

And at just 18 years old, he decided to head to Spain to become a professional padel player. "My parents told me: we'll give you a car or a ticket to Madrid. And I didn't hesitate. The car could wait," he says in an interview published on the Siux website.

Goal: WPT quarterfinals

Since 2012, Capra has played on the professional World Padel Tour circuit. His best result came in 2015, when he reached the final of the Barcelona Master.

Godo Díaz is his partner in 2016. They are the 13th ranked pair. So far, they have not been able to advance past the round of 16 in the four WPT tournaments played, but the goal is to take a few more steps.

"The idea is to reach at least some quarterfinals. But it's not easy given our current position. In the first tournament, we just missed out, and it's clear that this year the competition is tougher than ever."

"I am an aggressive player"

A left-handed and offensive player, he plays in the drive position, from where he doesn't hesitate to attack the ball whenever he has the opportunity.

"I think I'm an aggressive player. My strength is not defense, and I try to go forward almost always to win points with my volley or smash," he says.

As for areas to improve, he acknowledges that he still needs to train his "defense, backhand volley, and bandeja. I also need to learn to make the right decisions at all times and play more organized," he adds.
