Everything you need to know about the World Padel Tour 2023 season

New World Padel Tour 2023 competition categories

One of the big novelties this season is that the World Padel Tour has modified the categories of its tournaments. In total, there will be five different ones and they have been named as follows: Master Final, Master, Open 1000, Open 500, and Challenger.

• Master Final. This is the masters' tournament, the one that closes the season and will be held again in Barcelona.
• Master. Master tournaments award 2000 ranking points to winners, 1200 to finalists, and 700 to semi-finalists. In total, five Master tournaments will be held this season.
• Open 1000. A new category that awards 1000 points to winners, 600 to finalists, and 360 to semi-finalists. This format will be present in 18 events throughout the year.
• Open 500. As its name indicates, this category awards 500 points to winners. While finalists get 300 and semi-finalists 180. In addition, these types of events will not have any participation restrictions based on ranking. 3 Open 500 category tournaments will be held in 2023.
• Challenger. Challenger events exclude the top 8 pairs in the World Padel Tour ranking, so pairs lower down the table have the opportunity to participate. This format awards 120 points to winners, 75 points to finalists, and 50 points to semi-finalists.

The most international season with the most events in the history of the World Padel Tour

Officially, the World Padel Tour 2023 season will be the most international in the entire history of this sport. The calendar features venues in 14 countries, including new countries and countries that are hosting an event again due to their success last season. In addition, it is not only the most international season, but also the biggest, with the largest number of events. In total, this calendar is made up of 27 events (1 Master Final, 5 Master, 18 Open 1000, 3 Open 500, and additionally the Challenger events). This represents a significant increase compared to the 2022 season, which had 23 total events.

Additions and removals in the World Padel Tour 2023 calendar

As every season, the topic of new venues is always a great excitement, because we all want to have the stars of world padel close by. This year, there are seven new additions to the calendar:

• Abu Dhabi Master.
• La Rioja Open (Argentina).
• Chile Open.
• Paraguay Open.
• Reus Open.
• Finland Open.
• Germany Open.

On the other hand, we have other events that were present during the 2022 season and will not be this year. We are talking about the Miami Open and the Sardinia Open. In addition, it is striking that this season no events will be held in Portugal, one of the most important venues in recent years.
