What is WPT Next?

WPT Next is the new category created by the World Padel Tour, the highest padel circuit in the world. It is known that only the greatest figures, the most talented players who have accumulated the most points in their official matches, can be in the WPT. That is why it is not always easy to reach that level. But now, thanks to the creation of the WPT Next category, thousands of players from all national Padel Federations will be able to compete to achieve the goal of being in the World Padel Tour main events. At the moment, it is known that this category has been reserved for players in training and promotion. In this way, a greater opportunity can be provided to padel players who do not yet have a presence at the competitive level. In addition, the formation of four categories within WPT Next has been announced: Diamond, Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire.

World Padel Tour and FEP

The creation of this new category is due to the new alliance between the World Padel Tour and the Spanish Padel Federation. We are talking about the highest padel circuit and the largest Padel Federation in the world. That is why all National Federations have the opportunity to participate in these new categories, although it has also been reported that Federations from other countries where padel is emerging will also be able to participate. Spain is known as the capital of padel, the country where the sport of rackets is accessible to all, and where the largest number of players are found. That is one of the main reasons why this union between two of the largest padel organizations took place.

How to participate in WPT Next events?

The specific requirements to enter any of the WPT Next categories have not yet been detailed. However, we have information that all padel federations in Spain will be able to participate, and so far, 15 of the 17 have reconfirmed their participation. So, the best advice we can offer is to make sure you are registered with one of the Federations and wait for official information. Regarding international participation, it has not been reported how many places will be available or if any qualifying event will be held to enter. However, it is a requirement to be registered with your corresponding Federation.

WPT Next Prizes

The specific prize list has not been published, but we know that there will be quite attractive prizes for the participants. Firstly, it has been confirmed that players participating in the WPT Next events will be able to earn WPT points, which will allow them to climb in the ranking and participate in the main tournaments. Although qualifying for the best padel in the world is the main objective of this new category, it has also been reported that there will be cash prizes for the winners. The amount of the prizes has not been determined, but it has been confirmed that the prize money will be exactly the same for the men's and women's categories.
