Choosing a racket for beginners should be a meticulous task and done in the best possible way. In this case, acquiring the right racket is fundamental, especially if you are just starting out, as your continuity, performance, and the evolution you can achieve over time will depend on it. There's a fundamental aspect you need to be clear about:

• THE BEST PADEL RACKET DOES NOT EXIST.

And you might say: "What? How? Surely one of the professional players' padel rackets is the best, right?" Well, no. Because what we must always keep in mind is that:

• Every player has different needs, meaning you should try to get THE BEST PADEL RACKET FOR YOU.

In other words, spending 500 euros and owning the best racket does not guarantee an improvement in your game. That's why you need to consider the advice we are going to give you to help you choose your first racket.

What is your budget?

A price range. This is an aspect that varies greatly from one player to another. Depending on your resources, you can opt for one type of racket or another, or rather, one brand or another. So, one of the first questions you should ask yourself is: do you have a budget limit or certain brands that catch your eye? But if there's one good thing about the large number of brands we have in the world of padel, it's that you can find a racket that suits you no matter your budget.

• So, if you are one of those who needs to set a limit, don't be afraid and set it from the beginning.
• If you are lucky enough to have a large or flexible budget, this will be one of the least important aspects for you.

What type of game are you looking for in your racket?

• Power, control, versatility? This is another one of the first questions you need to answer clearly. There are players who want to strengthen their control on the court, others who are looking for extra power with their racket, as they don't have it in their arm. And there's another type of player who wants to feel comfortable in any position on the court. What type of player are you? What qualities do you want to improve with your racket?

Is maneuverability your priority?

• Lightness. Undoubtedly, if your priority is to have a very light and maneuverable racket (something out of the ordinary), this will limit your options, as the vast majority of rackets weigh between 360 and 375 grams.
• Good maneuverability. If what you are looking for is a racket that is "easy to move" in the 360-gram range, you will be looking for a round or teardrop-shaped racket (which we will see later).

This aspect of maneuverability is a good recommendation for your first matches if you are a beginner player (a general recommendation, as there may be players who are looking for other qualities).

Round, teardrop-shaped, or diamond racket?

• Why choose a round racket? This type of racket is preferable for beginner players, but also for those who prioritize 2 key aspects of padel: maneuverability and a large sweet spot. These qualities will give you more assurance in your shots, build confidence, and help you enjoy playing padel. Remember that one of the essential aspects of being a good padel player is to FAIL LESS THAN YOUR RIVAL. This type of padel racket will help you enjoy padel and improve your performance on the court.
• Looking for extra power? This is something some players look for as they gain confidence in their game, so here a good choice would be a teardrop-shaped racket.
• I don't care about winning or losing, the only thing I want is... to destroy my opponent, hahaha. Well, that's a joke to tell you that (in my opinion) if you are a beginner player and your only thought is POWER, my recommendation would be to opt for a diamond-shaped racket, but as I said, I think the most likely thing is that you will destroy your opponent or even worse... you will destroy your arm if you are not in good physical condition.

• The hardness of the racket and the type of rubber. If the answer is yes, then I would go directly to a soft or semi-soft racket (but be careful not to play your shots brutally, take care of your technique, warm up, stretch and train your arm strength).
• Do you want to speed up your game with little effort? Well, this is another quality that semi-soft or soft rackets will give you, that is, a soft racket will improve the ball output of the racket.
• Are you looking for more durability and power? In this case, you should opt for harder rackets. Softer rackets have a little less durability than hard rackets. So if you like to hit the ball hard and are looking for durability, you should opt for a harder racket.
