What is Premier Padel?

Premier Padel is a new professional circuit that brings together the best players in the world. This project was launched to give players a new competitive outlet, establishing itself as a direct "rival" to the World Padel Tour. The tournament is supported by the Professional Players Association, a new association made up mainly of professional padel players. This new padel circuit was built by Qatar Sports Investments and the Qatar Tennis Federation, which are led by Nasser Al Khelaffi, also known for being the president of the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) football team.

Premier Padel tournaments of the 2022 season

The Premier Padel 2022 tournament is the first edition in the history of this circuit, and for this first season, 5 of the 6 planned tournaments have taken place. The calendar for this first event is made up of "Major" tournaments and "P1" tournaments. The former gives the most points and has the highest padel level, while the "P1" category gives fewer points and belongs to a lower level. These are the tournaments that have taken place this season:

• Ooredoo Qatar Major (Doha). Held from March 28 to April 2 with the victory of Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno.
• Italy Premier Padel Major (Rome). Held from May 21 to May 29 with the victory of Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán.
• Paris Premier Padel Major (Paris). Held from July 11 to July 17 with the victory of Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán.
• Madrid Premier Padel P1 (Madrid). Held from August 1 to August 6 with the victory of Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán.
• Argentina Premier Padel P1 (Mendoza). Held from August 7 to August 14 with the victory of Pablo Lima and Franco Stupaczuk.

To close the circuit's calendar in its first edition, the México Premier Padel Major in the city of Monterrey still needs to be celebrated, which will take place from November 28 to December 4.

What is expected from Premier Padel in the coming years?

The inauguration of the circuit made headlines worldwide because it created a conflict with the World Padel Tour, especially because some players had an exclusivity contract. However, despite these frictions, it was possible to celebrate a 2022 season in which 6 high-level tournaments were organized, with the presence of the best players in the World Padel Tour ranking. This shows that the tournament has been very well received and also demonstrates great motivation on the part of the players. After this success, 10 Category 1 events are planned for the 2023 season and it is expected that by 2024 there will be a total of 25 tournaments, which would place Premier Padel's presence very close to the World Padel Tour. The celebration of this new circuit has also been very well received by fans, not only those who attend the venues, but also those who follow all the activity remotely.
