Miguel Lamperti, the best spiker in history

Miguel Lamperti

Miguel Lamperti

We could spend hours and hours talking about the sporting achievements of this great athlete, so to keep you from getting bored, we'll tell you more about his characteristics and shots on and off the court.

First of all, we will provide you with a summary of his biography.

Miguel Lamperti was born in Bahía Blanca (Argentina), about 700 kilometers from the capital, Buenos Aires. He started playing padel at 12 years old, and at 16, he decided to start traveling to the capital to participate in the trials of the Argentine professional circuit. His transition to the professional circuit happened somewhat by chance, because while playing one of the circuit tournaments, the then number 15 player noticed him and asked him to be his partner. That's where he began to grow as a professional player.

In 2006, he decided to leave his country and come to Spain to continue and progress in his sporting career.

Miguel always says that he plays padel because "God didn't give him the talent to play football." In fact, he was a better basketball player than a football player, but once he tried padel, he got hooked.

For Lamperti, padel has evolved a lot from when he started playing until today. The rackets used to be made of wood, with a smaller thickness, and the game was played at a different speed. Now the game speed is much higher; it's more aggressive and spectacular, so the public can enjoy the sport's spectacle more.

Regarding the ideal characteristics that a padel racket should have, he comments that the most important thing for the racket is that it has control, that it doesn't vibrate, that it has a lot of lift when hitting, and that it is very accessible, meaning comfortable. That's why weight, racket balance, and the rubber are very important.

He assures that one of the characteristics of this sport, which makes people who try it keep practicing it, is that it is an easy sport to start and it is a fun way to have a good time practicing sports at any age and for any gender.

On the court, we are surely in front of one of the players with the most charisma and most spectacular play within the circuit (currently World Padel Tour).

Lamperti's signature shot is the smash

Without a doubt, his signature shot is the smash. On the Internet, we can see countless videos of this player executing this shot from all distances and angles.

There's even one where Miguel is shown performing a smash with a frying pan, and he sends the ball out by 3 meters!!!

After playing with players of the caliber of Cristian Gutierrez and Matias Diaz, for this year 2015 he will form a duo with Adrian Allemandi, who, along with the Spanish Paquito Navarro, has achieved great results in the professional circuit.
