We want to emphasize a rather curious detail that not many people knew. You've probably noticed that official padel balls always have that very characteristic fluorescent yellow color. Balls can also be white

There is a rather curious story regarding the color of official padel balls. Initially, the balls were originally white, and it wasn't until 1972 that yellow balls appeared. Many people think that official padel balls were always yellow, but this is not the case. This change came about due to the boom caused by the introduction of color television, so that the aesthetics of the ball could be better appreciated by viewers. This color change has a background; according to the International Tennis Federation, the yellow ball was more suitable for the vision of both players and spectators. On page 11 of the official game rules by the International Padel Federation, the ball is discussed. Regarding the color, it is mentioned that "The ball must be a rubber sphere with a uniform outer surface of white or yellow color." As we can see, white balls are still accepted by the highest authority.

Other characteristics accepted by the FIP regarding official padel balls

In the section on official padel balls in the official game rules, the following is also mentioned:

1. Their diameter must measure between 6.35 and 6.77 cm and their weight will be between 56.0 and 59.4 grams.
2. They must have a rebound between 135 and 145 cm when dropped onto a hard surface from 2.54 m.
3. The ball must have an internal pressure between 4.6 Kg and 5.2 Kg per 2.54 square cm.
4. When playing at an altitude of more than 500 m above sea level, other types of balls can be used, being identical to the type described above except that the rebound must be more than 121.92 cm and less than 135 cm.
